Breads and Buns About Us My mom learned to make her own bread when we emigrated to the Ottawa Valley from Switzerland. I picked up the habit and then spent 10 years baking for the Pembroke Farmers' Market. I now have a few weekly bread customers and The Co-op seems to be a great place to get some new customers who appreciate real bread. Browse through our Products for Sale Ingredients I am using Mountain Path's rye and "White w/wheat germ" flours and Reuben Stone's stoneground locally grown whole wheat. These flours are organic and Eastern Ontario grown. I am also using an unbleached white flour to "lighten" some of the loaves. This flour is also organic and Canadian but not as local as the others. My loaves all weigh around a kilo. Practices (our standards for raising or making our products) I bake in a wonderful European tile-lined pizza oven. Highlights this Month I have purchased a Grain Mill and I am grinding my wheat for the Whole Wheat loaves the day they are baked. Right now, my wheat comes from Ruben Stone's farm. This summer, I've stocked up on blueberries from Hugli's and will be using them in my Blueberry Muffins all winter. |
