Practices (our standards for raising or making our products) Whole toasted certified organic hempseeds are grown near Douglas by John Brisco and near Peterborough by the Kennedy family, and toasted and salted by us at Morninglory farm Hempseed cookies are baked in Perth, with E.Ont.grown spelt & rye flour & Douglas-grown hempseeds. Our cookies are manufactured in HEALTH-INSPECTED FACILITIES. The Morninglory portion of our toasted hempseed processing is done in our home that has not been inspected by the local Health Unit, but processing is done with careful attention to cleanliness. Additional Information Hempseeds are an excellent source of: Easily-digested Complete Protein Omega 3 and Omega 6 EFA's (essential fatty acids), good for heart, brain, immune, and joint health Dietary Fibre Vitamin E, magnesium, iron, manganese, chlorophyll Because of their essential fatty acid content, dehulled hempseeds need to be kept in a cool dark place, either refrigerated or frozen, to preserve the oils More easily-digested protein can be grown per acre with hempseeds than with any other food Four times more paper per acre per year can be made from hemp fibre than with trees Hemp grows quickly, and if it gets a good start it will outgrow the weeds, so that it is a good crop for transitioning to organic farming methods. Hempseeds are delicious as a snack (toasted whole, or dehulled raw), sprinkled on salads or cereal, blended into smoothies, used in basil pesto instead of pine nuts or in hummus, added to breads and cookies, added to casseroles, ground up into nut butter, etc. Hempseeds are a yummy superfood! |
